10/9/07 10:30 pm - communication from beyond?

Ok, so we get a fax for a delivery to my old home address today. I couldn't do it. I had someone else take it. However, I went on a delivery to an apt building and the lady answers the door and my mom's friends from work are all sitting around having bday cake. I'm like..okay what's going on here today?! Then....I drive home from that last delivery, only to have my mom's fave song of her fave group come on! Ok Mom, what do you want? You have my attention!

I have a friend who is a vet and she said the vet forums are FULL of cases of animals effected by the foods. PLEASE if you fed your cat or dog some of this food..PLEASE go ahead and have your animal tested ASAP.

11/15/06 08:21 am - Remembering..

November is a tough month for my family. We lost my mom on Nov 2, Sam's grandma on Nov 9, my niece Laura on Nov 15 and my uncle Johnny on Nov 16. It's rather a dreary month anyway...these deaths just make it tougher. I think about all of them nearly the entire month....*sigh*

10/21/06 10:15 pm - Thanks!

Hey Angie, I wanted to thank you for coming down for Hannah's bday. I know it is probably a pain to drive all of this way for a few hours of sitting and chatting but it means a lot to Hannah and to us!

9/25/06 08:03 am - HoosierKen

8/27/06 09:32 pm - Tuesday is nearly here

I'm going in for my surgery 630am Tuesday morning..yipee eh? I just want it over with..like NOW!

8/24/06 10:02 pm - wow, long time no see

Lemme see.. I just got back from Miami Florida. Yup, another Ricky trip. He was filming an "MTV Unplugged" so we (fan club members) were able to go sit in on rehearsals. AMAZING! Then, the next night after the actual taping, we got to go to a club on Ocean Drive and party in the same club as Ricky. :-) He was upstairs with close friends and family and we were downstairs but we could see him on the balcony. It was loads of fun but as always, reality hits and you have to go back home. Kids started school while I was gone..and started soccer season too. This week was the very first time in 14 years I was alone while all four kiddos went to school. It was probably better that I wasn't here to see Molly walk into school for first grade...*sniff* Anywhoooooooo My surgery is next Tuesday. I finally got fed up w/ the shit and decided it was time. Yup..*cover your ears and eyes gentlemen*...I'm having a hysterectomy and bladder repair. Indeed..the days of hellish cramps and shooting pains are soon to be gone...as are the days of my bladder making me visit a bathroom every hour. It's a huge bullet to take but I must do this to get some sanity back in my life. Granted the cramps aren't every day of the month but it's painful and I'm tired of it all. And the peeing..sorry but I know where every flipping bathroom is in every store ... anyway, I'm trying to justify my surgery and I don't need to. IT's a quality of life issue and it needs to be done. I'm only 34, I'm not supposed to have this shit going on! Sooo..next Tuesday..if everyone could send positive thoughts and prayers(if you should choose to do so)...I'd appreciate it. It's a very big surgery...3 hours long. I'll be in the hosp 2-3 days (depending on how long it takes me to pass gas...loverly eh?).

6/29/06 09:51 pm - Proud Mama...and hey Angie?!

We walked up to the ball fields this evening...only to have FIVE people show up to play Kristen's game. Coach made a few calls, found out that one girl simply wasn't coming b/c it's her bday..and "oh I guess we forgot to tell you she wasn't going to be there, she's having a party!". WTF?! I understand it's just a game but can you please have the common courtesy to tell the coach you aren't coming? Then, another girl plays in the league in Oldenburg and her final tourney game is tonight, so she didn't come. One is still on vacation (apparently, they only told us they'd miss ONE game this week and she's missed THREE). Another girl is on vacation and there is one girl who was moving from Lafayette that swore up and down she'd be here after June 1st..even called her once she arrived and Dad said she'd be there. Never showed. SO, guess who got to play? Hannah! She was already dressed for her 7pm game (this game was 545pm). So Kristen's coach was like, wth. Guess what? She did fantastic! She had two walks and two hits! The one hit was caught and the other she was tagged out but SHE HIT THE BALL! This is huge b/c in Hannah's regular league, parents pitch. In Kristen's league, kids pitch. We are all very proud of her. Her team ended up WINNING believe it or not. WAHOO. This team is a tough one to beat too! Anyway, Angie..I thought you would enjoy hearing the coach's comments about Hannah..he said "She's one heck of a player!" He thinks she will do fine moving up to that league next year. WAHOO! Kristen isn't thrilled b/c her sister will be on the same team as she is. Oh well..she's gonna have to get over that.

6/27/06 11:16 pm - Something I wrote to vent..

Letter to a sport parent...

Hi there Sir or Madam. I wanted to remind you that the next time you drive up to the little league diamond or soccer field that you take a moment to reflect why your child is at this sporting event. Is it because he or she enjoys the sport or is it because you are living out your childhood dream through your child? How do you feel when your child makes a goal or has an awesome base hit or fields the ball to make an out? Pretty darned good huh? How about when your child strikes a child out in an outstanding show of pitching? How about when he or she jumps up in the soccer goal and makes a fantastic save? You feel pretty fabulous eh? Your child's happy so you are happy. Your child sees you smiling so they smile. Well guess what? When your child drops that ball, he looks at his coach and parents. If they are disappointed, your child becomes disappointed. Your child strikes out, where do they usually look after that third strike is called? Yup, to you Mom and Dad. How you react is how your child will react. If you smile, clap and say "good try" they're a bit disappointed but they know you are proud of them anyway.

Ok, so now I want you to look around. See that guy in the striped shirt on the soccer field or the umpire in blue on the ball field? They might be adults or they might be experienced players, but usually they are players because not enough adults are available to help so the kids step up and help. So you're standing there and the referee calls a penalty shot on your striker on the soccer field. It's an iffy call. What do you do? Do you argue the call or do you suck it up and be the adult you know you are supposed to be? I think you know the right answer. Those kids on the field and sitting on the bench are watching your every move. If you go make a spectacle of yourself because of a call in a sporting event, what exactly are you accomplishing? Think before you answer please....ready? The right answer is that you are teaching the kids that if the call is wrong, they can argue and hopefully someone will eventually turn a call over to your way. Now, if you just took the call...you aren't admitting that you are agreeing with it but you are showing you are a good sport and showing the girls that one call does not usually win/lose a game..but if it did, so what? Is it the end of the world?

So let's visit the umpire on the baseball field behind home plate. He's doing an okay job. He's calling balls and strikes. Sometimes they are close calls, others they are no brainers. So the call doesn't go your way and you come onto the field to argue it. This isn't the World Series people, this is Little League. You walk on that field to confront a 13 yr old umpire. What does this prove? Take a closer look under that mask. Ok, we'll humor you..."Umpire, take off your mask and have a look." See that kid? That's my son right there and I'm very proud of the fact that he can stand there and watch you make an a$$ of yourself, screaming at the top of your lungs over a foul tip. He stands there, let's you scream bloody murder but he doesn't say a word until you are done. Finally he grows tired and warns that if you don't leave, your team forfeits the game. Only then do you exit the field. The umpire makes the call to the best of his ability. Are they always right? Of course not but when you have 50 adults behind you watching your every move...ya gotta be brave, eh? So next time you go out to your sporting event, look at the ref/ump. He(or she) is someone's son/daughter (or even parent) who is trying very hard to do the best they can at a job that no one else stepped up to do. If you think you can do a better job, I better see your name at the top of the list next year for the umpire/referee training.

6/27/06 10:14 pm - Who knew?!

Who knew that son's practice of ignoring his parents at home would come in handy as it did tonight? A parent went on the field and chewed Cory out for a call he made (correctly I might add)...she was screaming at the top of her voice. It was all I could do not to go over and help defend Cory but he did a fine job. He warned her..then the other umpire had to warn her and said if she didn't leave the field, her team would forfeit the game. She left...but then she chewed her coaches out for not getting out there and arguing the call. So, ignoring his mom and dad at home..trained him for ignoring parents while he umpires/referees games. Hah! Parents need to chill out and the the kids play the game. The games would be so much more relaxed.

5/4/06 10:58 pm - Wow..

I just finished watching ER...and if a person can watch that show tonight and not feel blessed in their life, they is something wrong with them! I cannot imagine what the people are going thru..w/ Darfur..it's awful and tragic. The suffering is heartbreaking. *sigh*

5/3/06 02:19 pm - Volksmarch

OK, I was napping today and I had the weirdest freaking dream. I was watching/witnessing a few older ladies w/ scarfs over their heads and an older man w/ a paperboy hat..pushing a layered cart of chickens...they were running down the stone road yelling "VOLKSMARCH"...and I felt that we were supposed to be scared of the chickens. It was like I was witnessing past history. OK..so I looked up Volksmarch and it's basically "hiking" or "wondering" ...soooo what ever eh? Very weird.

2/13/06 10:14 am - Puerto Rico...here I come

1/18/06 12:26 pm - Simple, but funny

1/11/06 10:30 pm - Well..

So since Cory's under scrutiny b/c of his writings, we thought we'd check his email and guess what I find? Someone sent him a racial type email. It's mild..and Cory was the receiver not the sender. Buuuuuuut I deleted it immediately and will sit down again and talk to him about things of that nature. The joke was mild..really it was and I am sure it was reference to my son's hair and that certain boy's..but ugh! I HATE anything even REMOTELY racist or suggestive. HATE HATE HATE IT. Any advice here folks?
